travel with directv stream
My wife and I will be retiring soon. We will be seeing the country in our motor home. Can we take the directv stream device with us and use it anywhere?

Sure. Granted, of course, that you won’t need local channels.
What streaming devices are you using? If you are just using a phone or tablet, then you would be able to get local channels nationwide (in other words they would change in every different local channel market).

You actually can get local channels where you're traveling. It just depends on the streaming device. We travel in our RV with a Roku and it always gets our home locals. But our Apple iOS devices have "location services" and get the locals at our travel location.
