Partial recordings
Until a week or so ago I could hit record in the middle of a program and it would record the program from that point. Now, no matter when I hit record, it records from the program's beginning. How can I record just from the point where I stop watching a show? Thanks.

Thanks for reaching out, @davecuz. If you haven't already, try to uninstall and reinstall the DIRECTV app. Check for and install any app updates. Then access your recordings from the website or phone app to see if the issue persists.
Alternatively, record from a certain point of your show manually by:
- Pausing the live show.
- Going to the DVR menu, selecting "Recordings," then "Record Manually."
- Setting the recording to start immediately and end at the program's scheduled time (or adjust for extra time). Rizza, DIRECTV Community Team

Dang. For me this is great news because with DIRECTV satellite, it would record the whole buffer. With DIRECTV stream it would only record from the point you press record. Great news for me, but since we have unlimited recordings, just let it record and fast forward to the point you want.

@janice805 yeah, I would think most of us look at this is a great feature. You tune into a show that looks good but it’s half over and wish you had been watching it from the start. Now, you can.

This is something we have been asking for for years. This way if you forget to record a program you can start recording and see it from the beginning. If you want to fast forward through it, you can do that too.

Love this new feature. Noticed it a couple of weeks ago.

No question it's a great addition. But we also should be able to record just the end of a show where we stopped watching for whatever reason. Seems it would be an easy fix with just a tweak of some programming code..
