Multiple sporting events

Does anyone have a workaround for recording multiple sporting events? We watch college hockey, the teams play the same opponent twice in one weekend and directv names them the same thing and then refuses to record both games because it claims it's a duplicate event. It's a whole different game on a different day sometimes even on a different channel, but directv cannot figure this out and it's so annoying. Clearly it's been a problem for years, based on other posts in this forum, and they have no interest in fixing their screw-up. Does anyone have a way to get around this? Dish network used to let us manually override the duplicate event. How are y'all more expensive and less user friendly?

Hey, @Buglady77. To record all the upcoming games for your teams in your DIRECTV package, just do this: At the top of the app, type your team's name in the search box, click on the game, and choose "Record Team" from the recording options. You can find more details here: DIRECTV sports team recordings and live scores FAQ | DIRECTV Support Rhyan, DIRECTV Community Team

That doesn't work for college hockey. The team doesn't show up in the system. Do you have any suggestions that are actually helpful?

Sorry about that. College Hockey isn't currently listed on our Team Page, so the 'Record Team' option isn't available. We’re excited about the idea and will pass it along to our team for review. We appreciate your feedback. Rhyan, DIRECTV Community Team

Create a second profile. Set one of them to record the first game. After that game is done and no longer in the guide, use the second profile to set a recording for the second game.

I didn't even know there were profiles! Thanks for the suggestion

As for directv's actions, what would be better is if your guide would recognize it's two different events. I'm not convinced selecting to record all of a team would work because it still thinks the second game is a rerun of the first.

@Buglady77 Sometimes channels don’t properly submit information for the guide. In the instance you’re talking about, the channel must not have done whatever is necessary to make the listing for each game unique. DirecTV figures you don’t want your DVR getting cluttered up with multiple recordings of the exact same event.

I have experienced a somewhat different issue that also relates to channels not doing it right. There were a couple shows on a certain network that I wanted to set a series recording for. The problem was, the way the channel submitted the listing, the title of a particular episode would be listed as the name of the series. This of course was not helpful, because a series recording would only record that particular episode.

One thing I miss from my Dish Network days is the ability to create a manual recording rather than being limited to what the guide shows. That would get around the above issues.

Other than that, there’s not a whole lot I miss about Dish Network. DirecTV Stream is a little pricey but very good.
