our tv stutters
our tv stutters when watching uverse cable. this happens on live tv sometimes, but very frequently with the dvr. the stutters are recorded on the dvr, if you rewind a program and watch again it will stutter in the same locations. when it stutters the video and audio will freeze for about 2 seconds, when it resumes again those 2 seconds are lost. sometimes it will stutter like this 10 or 20 times in a row where it freezes for 2 seconds, resumes for 2 or 3 seconds, freezes for 2 seconds, etc. if we power-cycle the entire system meaning router and wired dvr, it does not change the behavior.

More than likely, those stutters were happening when the show was live.
Step 1. Make sure all connections are tight...not just with the DVR, but every single U-Verse box. If you can check connections in the basement or elsewhere, do that. Every. Single. Connection.
Step 2. Unplug (from the power) every box. Plug the gateway back in and wait for normal operation. Plug the DVR back in and wait for normal operation. Plug the other receivers back in and wait for normal operation.
If that doesn't fix the problem, call 800-288-2020.

1. We typically only use the DVR box. All connections that I have access to are RJ-45 and they are all plugged in completely, "tight" doesn't really apply to RJ-45 connections. The wires from the yard come into the house and plug into the router with an RJ-45 plug, then there is an RJ-45 patch cable that goes from the router to the DVR. The DVR connects to the TV with a standard HDMI cable, furnished by ATT.
2. We have power cycled the equipment as suggested many times over the past 1.5 years with no changes to behavior.
