My Bill went up $5.00 with no explanation.
My Bill went up $5.00 with no explanation. The TV keeps asking me to connect to the Internet and giving me a "choice" of reconnect or remind me later. How about leave me alone and do what I say. When I took it OFF the internet all the problems and ads (the same ones over and over) stopped. You were using my internet to send me ads that you received the revenue for. I'm not paying for your revenue. You people need to stop listening to those eggheads that come up with these ideas that depend on ramming stuff down our throats because we can't respond with force. You don't even have a (Edited per community guidelines)ing phone number to complain to. I have fired you before and I'm headed that way again.

The real people they don't show want the (Edited per community guidelines)ed machine to stop asking me to connect to the Internet. Direct only uses it to slow down my access and use my data to send me ads they use as a screen saver. It was causing ridiculous problems and one of their techs told me to disconnect it from the Internet and all the problems went away. Now it's just an occasional beg that says reconnect or remind me later. No other choice..How one sided is that? How about a choice of bug off. They want to be a streaming service on your dime and it cost them nothing. The dish becomes redundant. And the price goes up another $5 this month with no explanation. No one answers THAT phone.

My bill goes up in the typical AT&T trick of a few bucks a month will never be noticed. This month it was five dollars. They want to use my Internet for free to send me ads they get money for. Screw them.

Bills do not just arbitraily go up "a few bucks a month". There is the annual price adjustment to account for increases in network costs.
If you bill is changing more than once a year, then something else is going on. Review your bills for ending discounts, one-time charges, etc. Call DirecTV or even share your bill (with personal details removed) in the forum. Best to get to the root of what is actually going on.

You've posted in DIRECTV STREAM. But if you disconnect from internet to remove advertisement screen saver, that sounds like you have DirecTV (satellite). As those are two different providers, which one do you have?

I get you are upset, but leave the false accusations at the door. I am not a "shill" as you claim. You want help then keep it mature please.
Over $100 is normal cost for most. To get total bill close to $69 you would have to be on the special Family package with a single TV and the normal receiver services.
You can cancel them if you like (not firing them as they don't work for you). Remember, pay TV is a entertainment service. Your being on a fixed income does not factor in on their side. They don't have category specials (low income, senior, etc.). If service is not within your budget, then you reduce servcie or go somewhere else.

Ok you have DirecTV, not DIRECTV STREAM. Moving over to the correct forum.
Every year DirecTV has a price adjustment. Notice goes out in December and then we as customers see it on our January or Februrary bill (depending when our billing dates are).
Since you missed the notice, here is their info page breaking down the adjustments: https://www.directv.com/support/satellite/article/KM1442186/
They don't have to pay you to show advertisements for other shows. If you are connected, then you get a mix of landscapes/advertisements as your screen saver instead of the basic logo. So either way, something will be on your screen. I don't sit there just to watch my screen saver. My only complaint is sometimes I think the delay for it to turn on can be too quick, such as if pausing to read something on screen or have the "oh who is that they are so familiar" moment.

@Ludwick577 Remember, you have the permissions to move posts to the correct forum, which @Juniper has apparently done.

Yes, I know that, but after I posted that comment --I went to move it but someone beat me to it. No need to lecture me

I think the confusion was "Post to the Dtv Satellite forum." sounds like telling the OP to do it themselves (which would start the thread over). Just a little misunderstanding. I don't think @sandblaster was trying to lecture you because of it.

Did you go into the menu of your DirecTV box and reset network defaults? If not, and you just unplugged from internet, changed your WiFi password, etc. then it will keep asking to reconnect thinking it is a technical issue and needs to be set back up.
Advertisements showing is not you paying for it. Anything media (TV set, TV service, game console, etc.) connected to internet has some sort of advertisements attached in one way or another. You aren't "paying" anything for it. Companies use the internet as they can. If you choose to have your equipment connected to the internet then you allow your screen saver to change, but nothing changes with your billing because of it.
You can cancel, but you can't fire them as they don't work for you. Based on this comment and some of your other posts, it seems you feel you expect more control and ownership of the business then you actually do.
As a reminder, this is a public forum of other customers. If you want a complaint lodged with DirecTV, then you call them. Though I would not expect them to remove the advrtisement screen saver as that is provided through your service so is fully within their right. I do acknowledge that either the default delay for it to come on needs to be longer, or to have a menu setting to set your preference for how long before the screen saver comes on. Wouldn't eliminate it, but would make it more practical.

@Ludwick577 I wasn’t lecturing you. Just as @Juniper noted, your post read like you were telling the OP to post elsewhere, so I presumed you did not know you could move it yourself. It was only intended as a friendly reminder, not lecturing. Maybe next time, say that you are moving the thread to the correct forum, then if someone beats you to it, it won’t matter.
